Certifications
For CGI, quality is both a philosophy and a way of life
Throughout its evolution, CGI has constantly remained
loyal to the guiding principles that are the foundation of its practice.
CGI has many characteristics that make it a very efficient business partner.
These include: a guarantee of the highest level of competence; rigorous
planning; strict control over results, milestones and costs; a constant
search for the most advantageous solutions for each client and the assurance
of follow-up procedures after the completion of every engagement.
ISO 9001 certified
CGI developed a significant competitive advantage by becoming, in 1994,
the first North American company in its category to secure ISO 9001 certification
for its Project Management Framework. Today, all of our North American
and international operations linked to information technology are certified.
CMM level 5
In 2002, CGI’s India-based application development
and support centers have obtained the highest quality level rating of
the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model
(CMM Level 5) for their software process capability.
The CMM describes the principles and practices underlying software process
maturity. It covers practices for planning, engineering, and managing
software development and maintenance. The CMM was created by SEI, based
in Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, in order to help organizations
gain control of their processes for developing and maintaining software
and promoting a culture of software engineering and management excellence
in their operations.
The CMM establishes a benchmark against which it is possible to assess,
in a repeatable way, the maturity of an organization's software process
and compare it to the state of the practice of the industry. The CMM can
also be used to plan improvements in an organization’s software
process. When followed, these key practices improve the ability of organizations
to meet goals for cost, schedule, functionality, and product quality.
